  • Compact uint16 encoding. The four surfaces (susceptibility, classification, uncertainty, coverage) now ship as compact integer COGs with a documented scale, ~3× smaller than the previous float32 files, with no loss of precision at the delivered resolution. Faster to fetch and tile.
  • Full-resolution coastline (GSHHG-f). The land mask moved to the Wessel & Smith full-resolution shoreline (~100 m native). Every real piece of land — barrier islands, cays, narrow peninsulas (Wrightsville Beach, Oak Island, Padre Island, the Bahamas cays) — now returns a value instead of falling into a coastline hole.

  • Initial event-driven release. Susceptibility derived from STORM v4 10,000-year synthetic tropical-cyclone tracks across all six ocean basins, rendered through the CLIMADA Holland (H08) wind field. This replaced a retired statistical model (Gumbel fit to ERA5 gusts) that conflated tropical and extratropical wind and produced false inland hotspots; geographic correctness is now intrinsic, because storms are only seeded where tropical cyclones actually form.

  • Coastal-fidelity fix (Carolina Beach class). Coarse-grid gust fields are now dilated into the coastline before the 0.1° → 90 m downscale, so narrow coastal cells no longer drop to nodata. Oceanfront and barrier-island locations that previously read as holes (Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Oak Island, Wrightsville Beach, the Outer Banks) now carry a finite gust.
  • Full-resolution coastline (GSHHG-f) and consistent inland fill: locations far from any basin return 0 m/s rather than nodata, so a query over any real land always returns a result.
